Galland Kharasch attorneys practicing antitrust and trade regulation law represent many of the firm's major corporate clients -- including large engineering firms, airlines, railroads, trade associations and advertising agencies -- in civil or criminal antitrust litigation, antitrust audits and grand jury investigations. We regularly appear on behalf of our clients before the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, as well as the Federal Trade Commission Bureaus of Competition and Consumer Protection. Besides representing companies under investigation defendants, third-party witnesses, and their employees involved in criminal antitrust grand jury investigations, our antitrust lawyers handle white-collar criminal grand jury investigations that do not involve antitrust matters. Our antitrust counsel provide advice and prepare antitrust compliance (Hart-Scott-Rodino) filings for clients involved in mergers and acquisitions. In this capacity, we work closely with the firm's corporate attorneys and tax counsel, and with senior management of the companies involved in the transaction, to help assure that antitrust exposure is minimized. Services available through our antitrust practice include representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil antitrust litigation and investigations in a wide variety of industries. In addition, we conduct antitrust audits for corporate clients and trade associations, which include designing risk-specific antitrust compliance programs and presenting seminars to top management, marketing and sales personnel to explain areas of major antitrust exposure. We also advise clients on the antitrust and trade regulation aspects and ramifications of proposed contracts, pricing and bidding policies, and dealings with competitors. Galland Kharasch's antitrust attorneys provide counsel to advertising agencies and, on request, to some of their clients concerning all aspects of compliance with federal trade regulation law. We advise and represent clients who belong to industries under antitrust investigation, and counsel trade association members on the antitrust aspects of their involvement with association meetings and related activities. Our antitrust attorneys frequently work closely with other Galland Kharasch attorneys and clients involved in industries that continue to be regulated in some form by government agencies. Those include the energy, transportation and advertising industries. The firm's Washington, D.C. location not only facilitates access to decision makers in these federal agencies, but also better enables us to discern emerging enforcement trends and changing practices. Thus, we are able to expeditiously advise our clients of new developments. Proximity to these and other federal agencies enforcing the antitrust laws also allows us to obtain both formal and informal opinions on activities our clients are contemplating, as well as to respond quickly and effectively to government investigation. |
