GKG Law is located in the heart of Georgetown in Washington, D.C., in a building officially designated as a National Historic Landmark. Six-by-twelve inch hardwood ceiling joists are anchored into original red-brick walls beside floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal on one side and a European-style courtyard on the other. Bright, broad hallways wind past office space that was once occupied by former Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas, the inventor of the "Hollerith" machine (an early computer), and a thousand bags of milled oat flour.
Clients do not select counsel based on the offices they inhabit, but the physical environment says something about the people who work there. The environment at GKG Law is creative and interactive—far different from the sterile atmosphere typical of so many law offices.
