GKG Law's Association Practice Group is highly regarded by our peers. We have written numerous articles and papers on association issues and provided chapters in major association texts. Members of the Association Practice Group are regular speakers at association and industry meetings.

On a regular basis, we:

  • Provide antitrust and regulatory compliance advice.
  • Advise and manage Board governance issues. 
  • Redesign corporate structures to meet changing long-range objectives.
  • Assist associations in merging and consolidating with other associations.
  • Design and implement accreditation and certification programs.
  • Investigate claims of ethics violations and conduct ethics committee adjudicatory proceedings.
  • Draft and revise articles of incorporation and bylaws.
  • Represent non-profit organizations before various government agencies, such as the IRS, DOJ, DOL, DHHS, FTC, DOT, EPA and OSHA, and before Congressional Committees.
  • Set up 501(c) entities and for-profit subsidiaries.
  • Establish and monitor affiliation agreements between national non-profit organizations and state and regional chapters.
  • Establish international and worldwide offices and headquarters and draft and negotiate all related contracts for U.S. based non-profit entities.
  • Write articles for association publications.
  • Prepare executive employment agreements.
  • Advise associations about day-to-day business issues, including employment matters, ADA compliance, real estate transactions & leases, and analysis of insurance policies.
  • Review and negotiate contracts including licensing agreements, hotel and convention contracts, software contracts, equipment purchase and lease agreements, and agreements with sponsors, affiliates and vendors.
  • Prepare trademark registrations and provide advice on intellectual property and technology issues.
  • Litigation in both civil court and before administrative agencies.
