Tax Exemption Applications

GKG Law’s Association Practice Group assists clients with the formation of tax-exempt and non-profit entities of various types.  Our attorneys offer expert counsel on all aspects of starting up a new non-profit organization. This includes forming the legal entity and preparing governing documents, policies and procedures, registering the entity in appropriate jurisdictions, selecting the appropriate Section 501(c) classification, and obtaining Federal tax-exempt status through the preparation of the Forms 1023 or 1024. Additionally, in situations where the IRS does not recognize an organization’s exemption in a timely manner, we obtain such status by filing appeals with the IRS and by filing declaratory actions suits in Federal court. And, we help clients obtain retroactive tax relief.
